Meet Laura L. Lee, LPC
A calm, no-pressure call to see if this feels like the right fit.
Founder of Turning Tides Trauma & Counseling Services, PLLC
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor providing virtual therapy throughout Texas for individuals navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship stress, parenting challenges, and major life transitions.
I have been on both sides of the therapeutic process as a client, parent, spouse and provider. I know firsthand the powerful and positive impact therapy can have in our lives. I cherish the opportunity to assist and witness the healing journey of my clients and their families.
Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning and capable. They manage careers, families, and responsibilities well — yet internally feel overwhelmed, tense, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted. They’ve learned how to survive. Together, we work toward something steadier. Many of my clients begin to notice a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month, followed by continued progress over time.
My Clinical Focus
I specialize in supporting individuals across life stages who are navigating:
Complex, religious, and relational trauma
Anxiety, high-functioning stress, and chronic nervous system activation
Depression, emotional burnout, and emotional disconnection
Relationship strain, discernment, and communication challenges
Divorce transitions and co-parenting stress
Parenting while healing generational patterns
Life transitions that feel destabilizing or identity-shifting
My work integrates trauma-informed care with structured, evidence-based approaches to help clients move from survival-driven patterns toward greater emotional regulation, clarity, and self-trust.
I work with women navigating postpartum adjustment, midlife transitions, and shifting roles; with men seeking practical, structured support for stress, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, or sexual health challenges; and with teens and young adults facing identity development, academic pressures, and evolving relational dynamics — particularly when consistent support or trusted guidance has been limited.
Across all of this work, my focus remains the same: creating a steady, grounded space where meaningful and sustainable change can occur.
My Approach
My work is trauma-informed, person-centered, and collaborative. I integrate evidence-based modalities including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR-informed strategies when clinically appropriate. I will tailor a treatment plan that is unique to you and your goals.
Therapy with me is not about rushing insight or pushing you to revisit experiences before you’re ready. It is about creating safety first. We focus on:
• Nervous system regulation
• Emotional processing
• Clear boundaries
• Self-trust
• Sustainable coping strategies
Healing does not require falling apart. It requires feeling supported enough to shift.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, grounded, and direct — with a calm presence and practical tools. I bring professionalism and structure to our work while also honoring humor and humanity when appropriate.
I believe therapy should feel like a steady lighthouse — not chaotic waves. My role is to help you find footing, clarity, and emotional steadiness so you can move forward with intention.
Credentials
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I earned my Master of Science in Community Counseling from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi in 2003 and have been providing direct clinical services since 2015.
My clinical work is grounded in trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment approaches. I am trained in numerous modalities, and I am an avid learner. Here are a few I incorporate often:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
In addition to my work as a clinician, I have experience as a mental health and behavioral specialist, supporting individuals across a range of emotional and behavioral needs.
These specialized trainings allow me to tailor treatment thoughtfully, integrating structured interventions with a steady, person-centered approach.

Outside the Therapy Room
I am a mother of five daughters and part of a blended family. Navigating parenting across seasons of life — and building a healthy second marriage — has given me a deep appreciation for resilience, growth, and the evolving nature of relationships. I understand firsthand that families evolve, relationships stretch us, and life often asks us to begin again. These experiences inform my work in ways that are steady, compassionate, and grounded in real-life complexity.
Outside of my clinical work, I’m happiest near the ocean, spending time with my family, or finding joy in music, karaoke, and dancing. I believe steadiness and laughter can coexist — and that both are essential to healing.
Why Turning Tides
I founded Turning Tides Trauma & Counseling Services with the belief that meaningful change happens through steadiness, not urgency. Life moves in seasons, and even when circumstances feel overwhelming, there is structure beneath the surface.
The ocean has long been a place I return to when I need clarity and strength. Its rhythm and constancy are grounding reminders that movement and steadiness can coexist. That philosophy shapes this practice.
Turning Tides was created to offer a calm, structured space where clients can recalibrate, process what they’ve been carrying, and move forward with greater clarity and resilience.
A Personal Note
Starting therapy takes courage. Whether you’re navigating trauma, relationship strain, parenting stress, or a season of uncertainty, you don’t have to carry it alone.
Healing journeys begin with a shift in the tides — and sometimes that shift starts with a simple conversation.
